Day Care

What day care options are available for children with a disability?

Day care or child minding can be expensive and hard to find at the best of times. There are a wide range of care options for children this age, from centre based care to family day care and private nannies.

If your child has a disability or high care needs, this can add significantly to the complexity of finding the right day care for your family.

Your child may be able to attend a mainstream day care facility or you may decide to send them to a specialist service or group.

What can I do to help make sure the transition to day care goes well?

Once you have chosen your provider, a key success factor in settling your child is helping to ensure your provider is prepared.  Ideally, this should happen well in advance of your child’s first attendance.
