Life Skills

What are life skills?

Life Skills include all the skills you need to live an independent, productive and satisfying life.

"a skill that is necessary or desirable for full participation in everyday life"

For people with a disability or illness, life skills may encompass learning to use a walking device, developing effective communication and interpersonal skills or determining the right adaptations to your home or workplace – either independently or in collaboration with professionals.

A wide range of services are available to assist you to learn or re-learn these life skills, including physiotherapy, speech pathology, occupational therapy, music therapy, dance-movement therapy, art therapy and more.

Your focus may be finding and maintaining satisfying employment, rehabilitation, developing positive behaviours or improving social skills.
